Recent Laine Pictures

Naughty Nerds

Tonight, Smith was nice enough to share a box of Nerds candy with Laine. Laine had also spent the day with her good buddy Anna. She was so excited about her fun day with friends and Smith's act of kindness, she startled babbling:

"Daddy, I love Nerds and I love Anna . . . I love the pink and purple ones . . . Smith is my friend . . . he plays with me . . . Anna is my friend too and she plays with me . . . Dad, I want to go to sleep . . . Dad, Anna sleeps with nerds . . . Anna sleeps with nerds all the time."

Grandparents, Don't Take this Personally

Lainey and I recently had a conversation about Christmas. I asked her a series of questions to see what she could remember.

Me: "Lainey, what do you open on Christmas?"
Laine: "Presents!"
Me: "Who brings you presents?"
Laine: "Santa!"
Me: "What do we have (I meant, to eat) on Christmas?"
Laine: "I think cupcakes . . . and old people."

Sleeping Beauty

Underwood Farms

Lainey and her friends went to a pumpkin patch last week.

When I asked her to pick her favorite, this is what I found her doing.
"I only want 6 of them, Mom."

Not Very Lady-Like

We were in Utah last weekend to bless Rosey. The whole fam damily came to the cabin for the blessing and some refreshments As we all enjoyed Whitley's white bean chili, Rachel approached me and said, "Do you know what your daughter just told me? She said she has a hole in her bum where poop comes out."

A few days later, we were back in California and Lainey tapped my leg and said, "Dad, I have a hole in my bum where poop comes out." I decided to find out more, so I asked, "Really? How did it get there?" Laine thought for a second and said, "It got there from a storm cloud . . . a sweatshirt . . . and a rope."

Dad: "Oh. You at two?"

Laine: "YES! I love matoes."

Alien InvAsian

It scares small children, horrifies all heterosexual males, and sends fashionistas into fits of rage. What am i talking about? Yep you probably guessed it right, The Asian Lady Sun Visor! Laine will forever have nightmares after her first sighting of one today! The girls and I went to Lacy Park this morning and Laine was bouncing away on a toy horse, singing, and yelling "Yee Haw!" when all of a sudden she stopped riding. Her eyes opened as wide as they could go, mouth agape-she completely froze. After a few moments, she was able to mouth, "Mom! There is an alien coming out of that jungle!" I turned to see what had frightened her and saw 'the alien'-an Asian lady in a sun visor! I hadn't laughed that hard in a long time.

Compromise

Mom: "Laine. When Dora ends, you need to close your eyes and take a nap."

Laine: "K. I'll just close one eye and keep one eye open."

She'll never take a nap again will she.

We Love Cousins!

Lainey and Addie became instant buddies when they came to visit (partly over their mutual Sleeping Beauty fixation). We loved having them and can't wait for these two to get together again.

Pinker Stinker

Since Rosey was born, Laine has showed us a new side of herself: her stinker side. She has not acted out towards Rosey, she just has been a bit more whiney, a bit more grumpy, and a bit more . . . of a stinker.

Smith and I were talking about this new phenomenon on the way to dropping him off at a friend's house. Smith shared with me his explanation of Laine's new stinkery ways: "Dad, Laine's favorite color used to be purple. Now that she changed her favorite color to pink, she has become a stinker. Get it? Pinkers are stinkers."

Make it Pink, Make it Blue....

Getting my kids dressed in the morning is an easy task. I pick out what they wear and without complaint or question they happily put it on. However, this morning, Lainey put a wrinkle in this usually smooth task. She put on the top and pants that I had given her and then reached for a different pair of shoes. The pair that she grabbed were orange with white polka-dots and while they were cute, they definitely did not match her outfit. When I said "No," she went downstairs for a second opinion from Poppie. Soon enough Poppie, the resident fashionista, had convinced her that the orange pair were all wrong and showed her the pair that correctly matched her outfit. With that settled, all that Laine needed to be ready for the day was an 'necessary' accessory. I came down with two flowers for her hair, a pink one and a lime green one for her to choose from. Immediately, Laine picked the green. I put it on her head, she smiled, looked up at Poppie and Me and said, "Does it match?"
Poppie may have her prodigy after all.

Pics for Poppie

Nearly 30 years old and the dress is still stylin'. Lainey LOVES the dress and insisted on wearing her favorite orange flower that clashes nicely with the pink ribbon.

But You Can't Pick Your Friends....

Mom: "Hey Laine. Please don't eat your boogers. They'll make you sick."

Laine: "Oh. Only eat ham-boogers?"

Easter Sunday

Waiting to go downstairs.

Laine: "I pretty, Mommy."

Gone Baby Gone, the Bink is Gone

Had I known it was going to be so easy, I would have gotten rid of the binkie ages ago. Lainey handed it over before bed with the promise of a sand box. So far, no mention of the binkie, just lots and lots of sand.

Easter Egg Hunt

We had a great little Easter egg hunt in our backyard this year. (Next year, family, plan on coming out for it).

Lots of Lob

Laine has been professing her love for many things this week.

"I lob oceans!"

"I lob purple!"

"I lob SHOES!"

"I lob this!"

Oh Man....

While I was reading with Smith last night, I overheard Lainey talking to the cars she was playing with....

"Go to time out right now! You are in big trouble!"

At least it was cuss word free, right Poppie? :)

Now, If She'd Just Go to Nursery

Lainey had her first real play-date with Ali last week and had a blast (thank you Yesuk). Now all she wants to do is play with Ali and see John. What will we do when they move?

You Know You're Really Pregnant When....

"Mom. My belly SO full too." As she lifts up her shirt and sticks out her tummy as far as she can.

Thanks.

Book Worm

Laine spends most of her day toting around a book or two. Today it's Charlotte's Web, but usually it's one of her 'piggy books' (Toot and Puddle).

California Girl Already?

Mom: Laine. "Did you like snowmobiling with Geeps?"

Laine: "No!"

Mom: "Did you like sledding with Mom?"

Laine: "NO!"

Mom: "Do you like the snow?"

Laine: "NO!"

Mom: "Do you like the beach?"

Laine: "YES!"
