Pics For Adam

Since Adam is out-of-town, I promised him some pictures.
Looking out the window to see if Dad is home yet. (Or to see if Mason is outside).

See you tomorrow!

Just One of the Big Kids

Annual Marshall Lake Campout

On Your Mark. Get Set. GO!

Smith and Lainey did a little racing down the 'hill' in our backyard this evening.
Smith nearly wet his pants, he was laughing so hard watching Lainey try to make it to the finish line without falling over.

Eldorado Springs

Our favorite haunt in the summer time is always Eldorado Canyon. We head up for s'mores and hikes with the Kirkman's as often as possible.

And She's Off

Lainey LOVES speeding away in her rocket. She's the only kid in our cul-de-sac that is not content to stay in the circle so, we have to watch her like a hawk. Here, she is trying to make her get-away.

She's Saucy

By calling Laine saucy, I don't mean to say that Laine is sassy or cheeky. What I mean is that Lainey really likes . . . sauce. Today we ate lunch at Rumbi's. I had fish tacos and rice with teriyaki sauce. Whitley ate a salad with creamy vinaigrette, and we shared chips and mango salsa. Laine basically just ate all of our sauces.

We made a little plate for Laine with rice, chicken and chips. Lainey picked up a chip, dipped it in the mango salsa and put the chip in her mouth. I watched her suck off the salsa, and then take the whole chip back out of her mouth. Next, she dipped the chip into Whitley's salad dressing and sucked the dressing off the chip. Laine continued sucking sauces off of chips for the next several minutes. At one point, she even had a chip in each hand, alternating sucking salad dressing and mango salsa from each chip.

Whitley soon tried to make her eat something by forcing a piece of chicken into her mouth. Laine reached down her throat--gagged a little bit--pulled out the chicken and held it in front of her face for inspection. When she saw there wasn't any sauce on it, she grunted, dipped the chicken into the closest sauce, and sucked the sauce off of the chicken.

I then took the chips away from her in an attempt to get her to eat something else, like maybe the rice. With her dipping implements gone, Laine ignored the rice and stuck her hand right into the salsa bowl. She pulled out a handful of tomato-red, dripping, oozing salsa. She leaned her head back, dangled her hand over her mouth and methodically sucked the salsa off each chubby finger.

By the end of lunch, Laine looked extremely satisfied with her lunch . . . and was in need of a clean shirt.

The Anatomy of a Sandwich, by Laine Romney

Lately, Laine has been dissecting sandwiches before she eats them. As far as I can tell, here are the steps:
1- Disassemble bread, cheese and deli meat.
2- Eat cheese, preferably by fitting all cheese into mouth at once.
3- Hold deli meat in the air and admire.
4- Bite the meat in the middle of the slice.
5- With deli meat still clenched in teeth, drop meat from hands to allow slice of meat to dangle from mouth.
6- Violently shake head from side-to-side.
7- Laugh.
8- Find area of clean carpet and drop meat from mouth.
9- Pick up bread and lick mayonnaise.
10- With index finger, poke holes in bread.

This Is Where Lainey Spends Most of Her Day. . . .

Lainey Pics

Finally , it's Summer!

A tad Narcoleptic?

We've been having so much fun playing, that I keep forgetting that Lainey still needs a nap! This is how she has fallen asleep for the last three days. Yesterday, she found her bink and blanks , grabbed my finger and led me to her crib. She then took a 31/2 hour nap! Sweet little thing.
